Gut Health

Your diet can be an important part of preventing and managing gut problems. Different health conditions and symptoms may necessitate different dietary approaches including diets modified in fat, fibre, FODMAPs (fermentable fibres), lactose (milk sugar), meal size and regularity.

How can we help?

We will assess your medical conditions, symptoms and current eating patterns and tailor recommendations to enhance your nutrition, gut function (and microbiome) and quality of life.

Improving your gut health

Your gut (stomach, small intestine and colon) plays an important role in health. Billions of microbes in your gut are known as your microbiome.  A healthy mix of these microbes is important for immune and gut health. Genetics, eating patterns, medications, sleep, stress, exercise and environmental factors influence your unique microbiome.

Eating a variety of whole foods rich in fibre such as fruit, vegetables, wholegrain breads and cereals, legumes, lentils and nuts along with foods with added probiotics (good bacteria) or fermented foods and pre-biotic rich foods are all important for gut health. For more see here.
